Like many arts organisations around the country, we’re heralding the arrival of a major cultural year. The Olympics bring with them the opportunity for international celebration of our unique set of islands. Inspired by this rich mix of people and emotion, we’re working to create multiple events across the UK.

It’s a year to celebrate… Celebrate with us.

Follow the flickering flame lined paths past fiery trees, burning bulrushes and red hot flowers, in this luminous landscape where moments of magic surprise and entertain.

Watch out for bursts of fire, pyrotechnic performance, and secret fiery areas in this glowing outdoor gallery of beautiful installations.

Walk the Plank are currently working on a number of upcoming high profile events and engagement programmes around this year’s festive season and into 2012.

And last weekend, Walk the Plank produced Derby Festé, in a programme of shows and performances by international and Derbyshire based artists and organisations. The weekend was headlined by Spanish Street Theatre company Sarruga’s new show Peixos and Walk the Plank’s own Fire Garden.

Derby Festé is an outdoor festival in September bringing world-class live performance, music, film, and a fantastic finale to the streets of the city. This year, Walk the Plank will produce and present work at Derby Festé. The Fire Garden will feature as the main event on Friday evening, with reknowned Spanish street arts company Sarruga parading their beautiful Peixos through the streets of the City on Saturday evening.

We’ve programmed a variety of international and local artists to entertain, surprise and stimulate your senses during Saturday day and you can take part in a mass and open Salsa evening following Sarruga’s finale display.

Produced by Walk the Plank, the event will be staged in the Isle of Man’s National Sports Stadium, and will feature over 225 dancers, musicians and actors.

Historical references to the Viking invasion, Mannanan (the Manx Sea god) and his cloak of mist, and the emergence of the ‘Spirit of Youth’ all make appearance in an event that celebrates the Isle of Man’s heritage, and welcomes guests from all over the world.

The performance will also take on a an international flavour as costumed dancers inspired by the five continents present a Carnival of the Commonwealth, before the show reaches a climax with the ‘We are the World’ section…
