From 1992 – 2006 the Fitzcarraldo undertook 13 tours of the UK, taking theatre to the most remote parts of the country from the Shetland Islands in the north, to the Channel Islands in the south, and to many small ports and harbours in between.

The ship’s cargo hold was dramatically transformed into a theatre once anchor was dropped in port, and opened up a magical world of drama, music and performance to a family audience including many children who had never seen theatre before… thousands of young people Walk the Plank’s annual visit was a highlight in the calendar, and the sight of the brightly painted ship in harbour was a cause for celebration.
