Touring Salford neighbourhoods this half-term - Friday 24 October to Sunday 2 November 2025.

Climb aboard the Wagon Train and help shape Salford’s centenary celebrations in 2026. The Wagon Train will reappear next summer as part of a travelling mini festival across the city - but we need your ideas to make it happen. What should take place on or around the Wagon in your community - a fashion show, a band night, a karaoke hokey cokey, a food festival? This is your chance to influence the cultural programme for 2026.

Walk the Plank has created a Wild West-inspired Wagon, part pop-up stage, part DJ booth, maybe even an AV hub or gamezone. It’s inspired by Buffalo Bill’s visit to Salford 150 years ago, and the incredible changes in the city since then. In 2026, Salford marks 100 years as an official city, what should we celebrate now, and how do we imagine the next 100 years?

We are looking for

Who we’re looking for:
Residents’ groups, movers and shakers, connectors and instigators, creators, inventors, idea generators, the energy of youth and the wisdom of age, the others and outsiders, insiders, introverts, extroverts, eccentrics, conformists, you and your neighbour, your friends’ friends - in short, anyone and everyone. Salfordians through and through, old and new. All are welcome and everyone’s invited.

Get involved:

  • Sneak peek: See the Wagon at Walk the Plank’s Fun Palace in East Salford - Sat 4 October, 11.30am - 3.30pm at Cobden Works (M6 6WF).
  • Tour dates: Fri 24 October - Sun 2 November 2025 (exact neighbourhood locations announced in the week of 6 October).

About Salford 100

Walk the Plank and From the Other have been appointed by Salford City Council as co-Creative Producers for Salford 100 - the anniversary of the city’s incorporation in 1926. Together with communities, we’re creating a cultural programme that reflects Salford’s history, celebrates its diversity, and looks to the future.
