Introducing... Mechanical Marvels, our latest series of awe-inspiring fire installations.

Designed to captivate and transform outdoor spaces, these mechanical fire sculptures offer an unforgettable experience. Their moving parts, intricate details, and fiery warmth create breathtaking moments that leave audiences spellbound.

Whether it's a mesmerising 360° sculpture driven by thermal convection, a kinetic marvel that grinds and hisses, or a thought-provoking balancing installation that invites contemplation, these sculptures are true masterpieces. Crafted by some of the UK's most talented metal sculptors, each installation is designed to ignite the imagination of all ages.

Three of our Marvels are captivating kinetic sculptures. In the Balance by Felix Rowberry is a towering, rotating sculpture that combines playfulness with storytelling and is designed to evoke thoughts on climate change and the burden placed on younger generations. The Flaming Daisy Chain by Mike Pattison is a kinetic spectacle with flower-like cogs that turn, pulling a chain through a paraffin-filled watering can. Marble Run by Bryan Tweddle is a giant game featuring cannonball-sized marbles that move around a metal structure with a sense of gravity-defying suspense.

Other Marvels in this series of installations include The Passage by Mary Reynolds, an angel candle-inspired display featuring a metallic nest of fire at its core. The heat causes a convention current, making the two skeletal birds move to circle the nest, provoking a sense of serenity and wonder. Finally, The Fire Bird by Richard Broderick is perched majestically atop a metallic stand, enchanting audiences with its dynamic movements.

International Festival of Glass, Andy Kruczek, 2024

Our Mechanical Marvels can be enhanced with additional fiery effects, lighting, and sound to create an immersive environment that draws even more attention to these spectacular fire installations. Whether at a science festival, where thermodynamics take centre stage, or a festival of nature, where the symbolism of birds and sustainability sparks conversation, our Mechanical Marvels offer a captivating experience for all.

In the Balance, The Flaming Daisy Chain and The Passage was made possible thanks to the generous support of Billie Klinger.
